For active dogs that only need light support and more mobility at the carpus, we are able to place a special order for the Carpo-Flex Sports Wrap or modify the Carpo-Flex-X to provide less support and more movement at the carpus (wrist) for your dog. The Carpo-Flex Sports wrap is designed more as a protective layer to prevent abrasions/cuts, then provide support to the carpus. Measurements needed for Carpo-Flex-X Figure A
STEP 1. Use a measuring tape or piece of string to measure around your dog's Carpus area. See figure (A).  Figure B
STEP 2. Measure the distance from the back of your dog's paw-pad (or the floor) to about half way up your dog's leg. See figure (B). Prices (quoted in NZD)

Carpo-Flex-X Product detailsCarpo-Flex - X is made of washable, easy-to-care-for materials. Wrap can be trimmed for a more customised fit. Carpo-Flex - X includes nylon support straps to provide stability where it is needed most. Additional stability straps can be purchased for pets with more severe or painful wrist problems. Foam padding can also be added inside the Carpo-Flex - X for added comfort (all modifications require veterinary input - see below).
If planning on leaving the Carpo-Flex - X on your pet throughout the day, you may want to consider applying anti-chafing powder inside the brace to help absorb moisture and add a layer of protection to the leg. Carpo-Flex - X should fit snugly around the carpus. The bottom portion should sit just above the paw, almost grazing the ground in the back when the dog is standing. If the bottom back tab is too long, it can be trimmed with scissors.
Customising the Carpo-Flex-X Support WrapCarpo-Flex-X wraps have the option of having further support added via modifications made by Red Dog Rehabilitation. We can provide thermoplastic moldable splints for additional support to vets upon Veterinary request.
We are also able to order a custom made product for your pet. This is especially useful if your pet has delicate skin, prone to pressure sores/rubs or is going to wear the wrap for long periods of time. There is a full sheepskin lining available for our custom products made in the US. Custom made wraps and altered Carpo-Flex-X wraps are non-refundable. If your dog is very large and/or requires long term support please contact us for more information as a different product may be more suitable for you. Please note: Modifications will require further measurements and Veterinary input to order. Only Veterinarians can order splinting material (thermoplastic). We will be able to provide estimates upon request, but we normally need the measurement forms completed by your vet to provide an accurate price. Time frames will vary depending upon request and amount of modification required. |
