Tarso-Flex - X supports, protects, and helps to offload injured or painful tarsal joints.  They are ideal for dogs with mild-moderate hyperextension, weakness, sprains, strains, or deviations.

  • Tarsal angle is adjustable from about 120 - 155 degrees. 
  • Neoprene shell can be trimmed at fitting, as needed for a more customized fit.
  • Self-adhesive foam padding is included and can be applied and layered for added comfort.
  • Nylon support straps are included and can be added over any aspect (e.g., caudal, medial) for additional stability where it is needed most.
  • Thermoplastic splint material can also be purchased to give additional stability.

When do I consider a Tarso-Flex-X?

  • Moderate stability for the tarsus
  • Helps to support the tarsus and relieve pain associated with:
    • arthritis
    • degenerative joint disease
    • Achilles tendon injuries
    • collateral ligament strains and sprains
    • hyperextension
    • tarsal deviation
  • Can be used as a transitional support after cast or splint removal
  • Can be used during light-to-moderate activity (e.g., hiking, hunting)
  • Includes optional nylon support straps for extra stability

Measurements 
A: Cranial height, from tarsal joint to below tibial crest.
B: Cranial height, dorsal paw to tarsal joint. 
C: Circumference at tarsal joint.

What to consider before ordering a Custom made product:

When ordering a device, it is important to outline what you are trying to achieve. This will help to determine the most appropriate device for the pet and guide you in completing the Custom Order Form.

What is the goal for this device?
  • Immobilize or support a joint
  • Protect against injury or prevent injury
  • Prevent or correct deformity or contracture
  • Assist with function or therapeutic exercise

Thera-Paw provides custom braces and supports that are made of soft materials (e.g. neoprene & sheepskin).  Stability and immobilization can be achieved by adding nylon support straps or thermoplastic splints.  

When to consider a custom Thera-Paw brace:​
  • For toy, small, medium, and large pets needing a custom fit
  • When you need more padding for delicate skin or dogs prone to pressure sores (ie; sheepskin lining)
  • For shorter-term use 
  • When circumferential support / stability is needed at a joint or body part
  • If you want to retain the ability to modify the brace in-house (increase or decrease support)
  • When cost is a factor compared to a custom orthotic device.

  • For giant breeds or overweight large pets
  • For long-term use / need for heavy-duty brace
  • When controlled / specific movement is needed at a joint
  • When cost is not a significant factor
